Key Questions About Logistics and the Safety of Your Cargo
What is the main advantage of rail transport over sea transport?
Speed and reliability of the schedule. Rail transport is, on average, 20–30 days faster than sea freight (35–50 days of transit time instead of 60–75). It is not affected by weather conditions, storms, or congestion at seaports, which allows businesses to accurately plan their cash flow.
What information is needed to accurately calculate the cost?
To allow us to confirm the rate (starting at $350/m³) and calculate the customs duties, please provide us with:
- The exact name and brand of the products;
- The final invoice value of the goods;
- The volume in cubic meters (m³) and the total weight (net/gross);
- The exact number of units.
Can I book a shipment if I have a small shipment?
Yes, you can use our less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping service. Your goods (whether in boxes or on pallets) will be consolidated with shipments from other customers for combined transport. You will only pay for the volume (m³) that your goods physically occupy.
Is it safe to transport fragile items or electronics by rail?
Absolutely. Cargo is securely fastened inside the railcars, which minimizes vibrations and completely eliminates swaying (unlike ocean waves). In addition, we strictly monitor the proper packing, placement, and securing of every pallet or box during the loading process. All shipments are fully insured.
How will delivery to my warehouse be handled if there are no rail tracks leading to it?
Rail shipping is always multimodal. Your shipment arrives at a major rail hub, after which we safely transfer it to a truck and deliver it right to your doorstep.

Rail Freight from China to Ukraine — Cargo F58
Rail freight from China is one of the most promising directions in modern logistics. The New Silk Road — the network of railway routes connecting China and Europe — has become a genuine alternative to sea and air transport, combining reasonable cost with acceptable transit times.
Cargo F58 arranges rail cargo shipments across all major New Silk Road routes with guaranteed quality and transparent pricing.
Rail freight routes from China to Ukraine
Route 1 — Central Silk Road: Chengdu or Urumqi (China) — Khorgos (China/Kazakhstan border) — Almaty (Kazakhstan) — Aktobe — Orenburg — Moscow — Brest (Belarus) — Małaszewicze (Poland) — Warsaw — Lviv or Kyiv (Ukraine). Transit: 18–22 days. The most established and widely used route.
Route 2 — Trans-Siberian: Beijing or Shanghai (China) — Zabaykalsk (Russia/China border) — Trans-Siberian Railway — Moscow — Brest — Warsaw — Chop or Kyiv. Transit: 20–25 days.
Route 3 — Baltic ports: China — sea to Klaipeda (Lithuania) or Riga (Latvia) — rail to Warsaw — Lviv or Kyiv. Transit: 22–28 days. Combined multimodal option.
Route 4 — Via Romania: China — Constanta port (Romania) — rail or road to Ukraine. Transit: 25–30 days. Convenient for southern and eastern Ukraine destinations.
Rail vs sea vs air comparison
Rail vs sea: 18–25 days versus 30–40 days — 40–50% faster. Rail costs 2–3x more than sea, but you gain 2–3 weeks. Critical for perishable goods or seasonal demand peaks.
Rail vs air: rail is 3–5x cheaper than air with transit only 10–15 days longer. For shipments over 500 kg the cost difference is very significant.
Track gauge change at the border
China, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine use broad gauge (1520 mm). Poland and EU — standard gauge (1435 mm). Container transfer or bogie exchange happens at Brest/Małaszewicze and Chop/Záhony border stations.
Cargo F58 coordinates this and monitors cargo integrity throughout.
Container and wagon types
Standard ISO 20′ and 40′ (compatible with sea containers, simplifying multimodal logistics), refrigerated containers, open flatcars for oversized cargo, covered wagons for bulk goods.
Best cargo types for rail from China
Electronics and components, spare parts and auto components, textiles and clothing (large volumes), construction materials and tools, industrial machinery and equipment, chemical products (with required permits).
